Border Collies & Anatolians
Jack has been raising and breeding pure bred Border Collies for over 30 years and has traveled the country competing in stock dog trials. He currently provides dog training services.
Monsour Farms has always been a fully operational, family run farm. We rely heavily on the robustness of our animals for our success - this includes our sheep and lamb flock that remain on natural grass pasture, even during the cold winter months. We also rely on our pure bred working Border Collies to assist us when moving the flocks or other various jobs that need done; whether it's separating and catching a sheep or lamb or utilizing the dogs in the barns when it comes time for shearing or checking the flock.
Just as important as the herding dogs are our clan of Anatolian Shepherd guard dogs who stay with the flocks day and night, 365 days a year. Our farm is located in the foothills of the Allegheny mountains and predators are a constant concern for us. From bears and bobcats to coyotes, foxes, and mountain lions, the sheep and lambs are easy targets for the predators. Currently, there are six dogs that live and protect the sheep on a daily basis. Without the guard dogs, there is no doubt that we would struggle to survive as a farm due to predator attacks. We sell both pups and trained dogs from the farm. Contact us for more information.
